BART Police Shooting- The Uncut Footage

It's another case of a police shooting of an unarmed man.

Click here for the story: http://www.ktvu.com/news/18409300/detail.html. For the video: http://www.ktvu.com/video/18425287/index.html (courtesy KTVU-TV).

At the Fruitvale, California BART station, 22-year-old Oscar grant was coming home from celebrating New Year's day. There was an altercation on the eastbound train, and police came to stop the fight. somehow, Grant got detained by officers, and apparently resisted arrest. Grant was shot and later died.

But a video from a cell phone tells a far different story. In the video, it appears that Grant was arguing with one of the officers, and an apparent scuffle ensued. at about 1 minute 52 minutes into this video, an officer- now identified as Johannes Mehserle- shot Grant in the back. when Grant was shot, he was in handcuffs.

Care to explain this one, Officer Mehserle? I understand that the police have a hard enough job as it is, and there's stress involved. But, did the officer overreact? Or was he just a cold hearted bastard? I'm really having trouble seeing the justification in shooting a man- who is already handcuffed- any place in the body, let alone the back.

BART police and Officer Mehserle are facing a $25 million suit, citing violation of Grant's rights.
