The Associated Press and NBC News have projected that US senator Barack Obama (D-Illinois) has won the South Carolina Democratic primary.
According to the report- which I'm getting from the NBC station in Columbia, WIS News 10, large numbers of blacks came out to vote, accounting for about half the state voters.
This primary was pretty heated over issues over race. Both Obama and opponent Hillary Clinton fought vigorously for the black vote.
