Sources close to New Mexico governor Bill Richardson say that he will drop out of the 2008 presidential race Thursday. Richardson has posted fourth-place showings in both the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary. He has 19 delegates committed to his run, so there's no word on which candidates those 19 will support once he leaves the race.
Richardson will be the third candidate to drop out, after Joe Biden and Chris Dodd. This will leave five hopefuls- Clinton; Obama; Edwards; Kucinich; and Gravel- left in the race. Money and the low numbers of votes are cited.
He is expected to make this announcement public on Thursday.
