The approaching category one hurricane Dolly could bring much need rain to areas in the Texas Gulf coast. But it could also cause massive flooding and levees could fail in this storm.
Dolly is about 130 miles southeast of Brownsville, and could make landfall there- or in Corpus Christi Wednesday. Dolly became a hurricane today, with sustained winds- thus far- at 75 miles per hour. already many residents are evacuating the areas affected.
A bit of good news in all of this, Dolly did miss the oil derricks out in the Gulf, so our gas prices may- or may not- drop.
But no matter the category, this is still a dangerous storm, so I'm interested in how much damage will result in Dolly's aftermath.

Former White House Press Secretary and Commentator Tony Show Dies at 53
Tony Snow, the former Fox News conservative commentator who later became the White House press secretary under the current Bush administration, has died at 53. He had battled cancer for quite some time, having survived colon cancer, but the cancer had spread to his liver and took his life.
Snow was Press Secretary from May 2006 to September 2007, and before that, he was one of the founding members of the Fox News Channel, when it launched in 1996. He had his own radio show, The Tony Snow Show, which aired from late 2003 until he became White House press secretary in 2006.
Snow was also speechwriter for Bush's father, George H.W. Bush during the elder Bush's administration.

'Wonder Boy' Louisiana Governor facing Recall
It seemed like yesterday when Bobby Jindal became Louisiana governor. He's young- 37- and appears to be the next generation of Republicans and conservatives. But now, it appears that some of our friends in the Bayou State want to have him recalled.
Jindal came under criticism for refusing to veto a bill doubling state legislators' base pay. Four other Republican legislators- Jim Tucker of Terrytown; Steve Pugh of Ponchatoula; Franklin Foil of Baton Rouge; and Joseph Lopinto of Metairie- also face recall. But 933,000 valid signatures are needed.

Just Try and Pry My Guns, Bitch!
I...and the late Charlton Heston have only five words to say to the paranoid gun control freaks:

Somewhere, Charlton Heston is jumping for joy over this.
Today, the US Supreme Court made one of the best decisions in its' over 220 year history.
The court ruled- in a 5-4 ruling- that the handgun ban in Washington, DC violated the Second Amendment. which basically means that DC residents can own handguns- and the next time KXL and national radio talk shot host Lars Larson visits DC, he can take his Glock (or Sig Hauer...or Smith and Wesson) with him. This is great news for law abiding citizens, and a well-regulated militia. The right to protect themselves and their neighbors is very important, for the thugs on the street have weapons and intend to do harm to you. Why shouldn't I be able to protect myself as well? Common sense, people.
Basically, what the Supreme Court says is, the way I see it, that lawmakers need to enforce the laws already on the books. We don't need any more legislation or restrictions, for they just complicate laws already on the books.
So, gun control freaks, you can have my guns...if you can pry them from my cold dead fingers. And you'll definitely have a hard time doing that.

Jammin' 95.5 is Now Jammin' 107.5
In May, KJXM-FM, Jammin' 95.5 changed formats to 95.5 The Game, which is the first FM sports station west of the Mississippi.
Meanwhile, there was this dance station at the 107.5 dial, named Movin' 107.5. Well, Movin' had done some...well, Movin'. Movin' 107.5 is now Jammin' 107.5, and CBS Radio maintains ownership of the station. The call letters of Jammin' remain KXJM. The 95.5 team is now on the 107.5 dial- and yes, that includes the Playhouse Team. Yes! The Playhouse is BACK! Click on the title, and you can listen live right now.
Now I remember 10 years ago, the 107.5 dial was known as 107.5 The Beat. The Beat played what I'd like to call 'chick music', which means that The Beat was heavily targeting the female 18-49 audience. Today, 105.1 The Buzz KRSK-FM fits the role. The Beat had the morning team of Gina, Cort, and Rebecca, and they were pretty good.
Then, The Beat became an eighties hits station, followed by Movin' 107.5, which played dance. And now, we have Jammin' at the 107 to the five, baby.
Welcome back, Jammin'.
