Former Canton Police Officer Found Guilty

I know one thing for certain. Former Canton, Ohio police officer Robert Cutts, Jr. will go down, and go down big on February 25, when the sentencing phase of his murder trial begins.

Cutts was found guilty of two counts of aggravated murder- one for purposely causing the unlawful termination of Jessie Davis' pregnancy, and purposely causing the death of a viable, unborn child under age of 13. One count of aggravated murder, trespassing into Jessie Davis' home; two counts on gross abuse of a corpse for treating the corpse of Jessie Davis, and the unborn child baby Chloe; and one count of child endangering for creating substantial risk to Blake Davis in leaving him unattended at home.

He was found not guilty on the charge of aggravated murder of purposely causing the death of Jessie Davis, but instead was found guilty on a lesser charge of murder.

Jessie Davis was found in a field in Summit County, Ohio- outside the county seat of Akron- last summer.

So my question is how could a man- who has sworn to protect and serve not just the citizens of Canton (which is the county seat of Stark County)- but also the very lives of Jessie Marie Davis and his unborn daughter, Chloe, take them away? What kind of pressure was he facing? He was a married man, and if I'm correct, the son Blake was also his with Jessie.

Why did Robert kill her? A report, which you can clicke here at http://wkyc.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=83391 mentions that Cutts killed Jessie just avoid paying more child support. Cutts says, however, that the killing was accidental.

So, if he accidentally killed Jessie, why couldn't he first call his fellow officers on 9-1-1, and tell them what happened? Had he done this, perhaps he wouldn't be facing the death penalty right now. He probably would've served, say, 10 years- perhaps some time off for good behavior- and even though he probably wouldn't be able to get back into uniform (then again...), he could still be a productive member of society. But now, it's likely that he'll be sitting on death row in Lucasville (where the maximum security prison is located, just 80 miles south of Columbus- and about 15 miles north of Portsmouth).

All because he couldn't control his temper.

The tragic end of an already troubled law enforcement career.
